- Follows typical conventions of a horror with red, white and black colour scheme for typography. The red of the blood, dark of the sky and a shadowed edge of the poster over powers the scene which is originally bright, bold, block colours; creating disequilibrium and adding to the horror element.
- The Big Brother logo is clearly visible on the wall and the shot of the house is in the centre third. This plays on the popularity of the show to attract viewers and promote the show.
- The house surrounds the shot and encloses the audience; this is effective for making them feel as if they are in the vulnerable position of a contestant who is being watched.
- The tag line ‘reality bites’ is a pun on 2 aspects of the show.
1.
That it is based on a reality show. Although
this version is fictional it is an effective way of achieving realism.
2.
The zombie craze of being bitten and possessed.
This is the only part of the
poster that gives any written information or clues but is effective because it
is used with a well recognised picture which tells the audience the basis of
the show; playing on the popularity of the original show as a form of
promotion.
- A certain audience are also targeted with the information about when the show starts. Where as a film poster would simply have a release day, this includes a channel logo because it is a TV show. This is a well established channel with particular genres and audience. This may give some viewers an idea of what the show is going to be like and encourage them to watch it because it is being shown on a channel which is popular with their age group or that they watch other shows on.
