Mise en scene

• Forest usually a place of solitude but is interrupted by the fire which changes the tone from peaceful to frantic and manic  
• Wearing survival clothing and back pack – practicality and subverts convention of typical girl’s image, no makeup is worn and her hair is tied back  

Editing

• Editing builds tension – starts slow then gradually builds up creating anticipation and excitement
• Titles fade to black
• Focus pull from leaves to her feet
• Blurry shot of trees – fast movement
• Blurred running shots again demonstrates her movement
• Jump cuts – simple transitions
• Cuts from extreme close up of mocking jay to Katniss in the forest – building up to final shot of the Mocking jay pin
