Location 2 (The basement)

Interior Location Research.
After initial research of looking at images of good looking basements that fit the criteria of what we wanted, we started looking at films with basements in them. Basements that are a scary place to be, where the characters obviously want to get out, but can't.
The first film I looked at was a film with Danny Dyer called 'The Basement' which is about six friends who are lured to an underground basement for a sinister experiment. The bare and dark place is very scary, and is the kind of place we are looking for too.

This picture shows the kind of thing we are looking for. It shows a large space to any kind of 'torture' could potentially happen. The dull and bare walls make it seem as though it is unhabitual and desolate, which is the look we are looking for as it seems a very rejected place to be.
The picture to the right show different scene from the 'Basement' this is a corrider, the long shot straight down the corrider seems very creepy, as though never ending. again the bare bricked walls shows a neglected place. There is also lack of lights within the corridor, this could build up suspense as people wouldn't know where they are going or see if there is a way out.

This last picture shows a hand tracing the word 'HELP' which has been written in what looks like blood, this can be considered a typical convention of horror films, however it works as it can seem very scary and realistic.

This  film shows the kind of basement we are looking for, it is very bare and run down. The walls and dull and almost neglected. the lack of lights adds to the scary effect as nothing is clearly shown and the wrting again makes the situation much more realistic, which is the aim we are also looking for.
